Susan Bergman

2022 Q2 winner is…
Susan – Branch Manager – Minot, ND

Currently, Susan is on the board of directors with her local credit union chapter in Minot, ND, and has been since 2013. In that time, she has served as a director, treasurer, and president. The chapter does many things in their community, including participating in CO-OP Day at the North Dakota State Fair with other local credit unions, Family Fun Day at Roosevelt Park Pool, and National Night Out.  Susan also enjoys leading  Junior Achievement classes – her favorite students are the first graders. She also volunteers with a group called On the Water Inc. On the Water Inc. is a non-profit organization that takes disabled or active combat veterans for a day of fishing on one of the surrounding North Dakota lakes. This organization was started in 2011 and Susan has been the treasurer and photographer.

Thank you, Susan, for the hard work that you do for our community. We appreciate you being part of the GRFCU team!

More About Susan

What do you enjoy most about being a volunteer?
What I enjoy the most about volunteering is the people. Whether it’s the little kids in Junior Achievement or the 82-year-old WWII vet, they all have a story to tell and bring a different point of view based on their experiences.

Why is volunteering important to you?
Volunteering is important to me because we are supposed to help people. Not just as credit unions but as human beings. Teaching first graders about finances is important for their future and how they look at the world. Taking a Veteran out for a day of fishing is just part of the appreciation that we should show people that put their lives on hold to support and protect our freedoms.

Besides volunteering, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I like to cook. My husband and I love to try new recipes and different ways to cook. We also do a lot of hiking and outdoor activities as a family.
