The Making a Difference Award is a peer chosen award given quarterly.

Let’s meet Nicole Utsch (Member Solutions Advisor), our 2nd Quarter Winner.

Q & A with Nicole

Favorite thing about working at the Credit Union?
My favorite thing about working at Great River is listening to members stories and helping them during times that may be financially difficult.

Fun fact about yourself?
I was born in Alaska and lived there for 6 years.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two daughters.

Favorite place you’ve been and why?
Las Vegas has been my favorite place so far, and my favorite part of that trip with enjoying dinner at Top of the World Restaurant at The Strat.

Favorite movie/TV Show and why?
My favorite TV show is “Stranger Things.” Because I like strange things and it keeps making you wonder what happens next!?

Do you have a favorite quote? What is it?

My favorite quote is “Everything happens for a reason.” It may sound cheesy, but it’s helped me get through some hard times.

Donation of Winner’s Choosing

As a part of the award, the Credit Union will donate $50 to the organization of the winner’s choosing, on their behalf. This quarter $50 will be donated to: Ruff Start Rescue. Ruff Start Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit companion animal rescue that primarily serves communities throughout the state of Minnesota, as well as states in the south with severe pet overpopulation. Most of their work is accomplished by a complex network of volunteers, fosters, and supporters, all of whom come together to save thousands of animals each year.

2ns Quarter Making a Difference Award Winner Nicole Utsch

I would like to nominate Nicole Utsch for the Making a Difference Award. She has regularly fulfilled the core values of Unity, Relationships and Authenticity.

Since my first day starting at the Credit Union, Nicole has been an incredible source of information and guidance about the credit union and department. She made me feel welcome and an immediate part of the team, always communicating with me while I was in person, and via teams now that I am remote.

Unity: we have worked together on several projects needing immediate attention, and even in our short time working together she has without hesitation helped in completing the job and assisting in any way that helps both myself and the team. There are also times when I need to print out a letter or a document for a member, and she seemingly drops everything to help me; her answer in teams always being “I’m on it.”

Authenticity and Relationships: if Nicole does not know the answer to my question, she does not send me away to look for myself. She takes the opportunity to say she is also still learning, and not only seeks out the answer to the information needed, but then shares it so we can learn together. This kind of honesty and integrity has really helped build strong working relationship while working remotely.
